How long does it take?
Everything is created by hand. Once a payment is verified, the mailbox or subdomain is normally set up within 48 hours, and the credentials are emailed to the address you gave on the form. If something delays it - a name that needs a second look, a payment that has not arrived - you will hear about it rather than being left waiting.
What happens if I do not renew?
A reminder is sent 15 days before the renewal date. After expiry there is a grace period of 30 days during which everything keeps working and you can renew at the normal rate. After that the mailbox and subdomain are deactivated, and mailbox contents are kept for a further 30 days. The username itself is released for others to request 90 days after expiry.
Two people want the same name. Who gets it?
First come, first served, by the time the request was submitted - not by who paid more or who is more senior in the family. The name is held against the earlier reference while that request is open. If the first request lapses without payment, the name becomes available again and the next person in line is told.
Can I have a name that is also a well-known person's name?
If it is your own name, generally yes - plenty of people share a name with someone famous. What is not permitted is presenting yourself as that person: using their photograph, their titles, or wording that implies the address is theirs. Requests that look like impersonation are refused and refunded.
What can I not do with a @mishra.info address?
No bulk or unsolicited mail, no fraud, no impersonation, nothing illegal. This is stricter than it sounds and it is enforced, because mail reputation is shared: one person sending spam from the domain gets everyone else's mail sent to junk folders. Addresses found doing this are suspended immediately, without refund.
Can I send email from the forwarding alias?
Not on the Lite or Setu plans in most setups - a forwarding alias receives mail and passes it on, but has no mailbox to send from. If you need to send from your mishra.info address, take Email Pro, which is a real mailbox with SMTP access.
Can I change where my subdomain points?
Yes - once a year at no charge, and after that for a small handling fee. Send the new destination from the email address on the account.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, before provisioning. If you change your mind, or the name turns out to be unavailable, or the request is refused, the payment is returned in full. Once the mailbox or subdomain has been created the fee is not refundable, because the cost has been incurred - but you keep the service for the year you paid for.
Is my family information on the form made public?
No. Gotra, city and anything you write in the purpose field are used only to fulfil the request. They appear publicly only if you specifically ask for them on a profile page. The directory planned for a later phase will be opt-in, and nothing is added to it without asking you first.
Do I need to be a Mishra?
The service exists for the family, and that is who it is priced and built for. Requests from people married into Mishra families, and from people whose family name is a spelling variant, are treated exactly the same. Beyond that it is a judgement call made case by case, and the honest answer is that a polite request explaining the connection is generally accepted.
Reserved usernames
These names cannot be allocated. System names would collide with infrastructure; deity and institutional names are held back because a subdomain on a shared family domain reads as speaking for everyone on it. Obscene and abusive words are blocked outright and are not listed here.

If a reserved word is genuinely your given name - and several on the sacred list are common given names - write in. These are held for review rather than banned outright, and a request from someone actually called by that name is normally granted with a note on the record. Contact.
